We are thrilled to announce two completed projects. The first is in Burkina Faso where the project aimed to support women, young people and internally displaced people by empowering them to grow and care for moringa and baobab trees. In total, we grew a massive 442,774 trees.
The second is in Mali, where the project focused on improving governance in four communes and increasing women’s role in forest management. Two new forest management cooperatives were established.
At the end of last year, we attended COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Tree Aid's delegation brought global attention to our mission of tackling poverty and the effects of the climate crisis through restoring nature. Having a community member as the face of our delegation reminded people how decisions made at the international level directly impact those on the front lines of the climate crisis.
While attending, we won a Global Centre on Adaptation Local Adaptation Champion Award! This award recognises our ongoing efforts in food security in Burkina Faso. Awa Convolbo (pictured left), a community leader supported by one of our projects, was there to receive the award.
