Why Tree Aid

We believe in long lasting change. We stand with communities across Africa, growing solutions to poverty and the climate crisis. Solutions that take root today and grow stronger for generations to come.

Trees are at the heart of everything we do. Our work is led by local communities to deliver the change they need and we have the results to prove it.

We imagine a world where people and nature can thrive together and every tree we grow brings us one step closer.

By leaving a gift to Tree Aid in your Will, your legacy will grow with the trees, supporting people and the planet for years to come.

  • If you haven't already written a Will, a great place to start would be by writing a free Will with our Will writing expert partners Octopus Legacy

There are three main types of gifts you can leave in your will:

  • Pecuniary - allows you to leave a specific amount of money to Tree Aid.
  • Residuary – allows you to leave a share of your estate to Tree Aid, once your family and friends have been taken care of. this can be the best way to leave a gift because as a portion or percentage of your estate, it should retain its value over the years.
  • Specific – allows you to leave a specific asset to Tree Aid, such as property, jewellery, artwork, etc.

Inheritance Tax

A gift to Tree Aid in your will is not subject to inheritance tax. If you leave 10% or more of your total estate to Tree Aid, you can reduce the inheritance tax rate.

Please seek advice from your solicitor about Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax.
